Harris800Harris Golf Club – Life Membership Offer

Would you like to become a Life (YES, LIFE!!!) Member of a Scottish Golf Club for only 350 GBP? Looking for the perfect golfing gift for that special someone?

The Bonnie Wee Golf is delighted to offer you Life Membership at Harris Golf Club on the Isle of Harris.

Harris Golf Club is one of the best 9 hole golf courses in Scotland & is located in the most stunning setting on the white sandy shores of Scarista Bay on the Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides.

The course is a beautiful links with stunning views overlooking the Sound of Taransay & the Atlantic Ocean.

Many of the holes are challenging, which makes it a great test of golf for all golfing abilities. The biggest challenge is to not let yourself get too distracted by the breathtaking scenery that surrounds you.

As a life member of Harris Golf Club I was pleased to be invited to play in their annual life member tournamnet. I travelled to Harris in August & had the most amazing four days. I drove from Aberdeen to Ullapool, took the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry to Stornaway & then drove down the road to Harris. I spent the first afternoon exploring the tiny town of Tarbert & then enjoyed several hours at the Harris Gin Distillery.

Day 2 ~ I made my way to Harris Golf Club & received the warmest of welcomes. I signed up for their Texas Scramble & was fortunate enough to be a member of the winning team. It was a wonderful day enhanced by meeting Life Members from all around the world.

Day 3 ~ I played in the Life Member Tournament, which was an 18 hole stroke play competition. Each year the club present the winner with a customised Harris Tweed jacket, which is an incredible prize. The Golf Club has its very own design of Tweed. As I unfortunately hit my 3rd tee shot from the drivable par 4 1st, I left myself with a little too much work to do and I soon felt the Harris Tweed jacket slip from my grasp. Oh well, there is always next year!

Day 4 ~ I played in the Harris Open, which is obviously open to all. It was a great opportunity for Life Members & local members to mix & share stories. The awards ceremony was held outside the clubhouse in the afternoon. The golf club had set up a fabulous buffet and bar and I’m pleased to say they were serving Harris Gin!

Harris Golf Club plays an integral part in promoting the Island of Harris as a top quality holiday destination for golfers and non-golfers alike. The natural surroundings are quite breathtaking and this coupled with the extensive birdlife, wildlife, unique culture, music, language, arts and award winning beaches make Harris very appealing.

I am very proud of my Life Membership of Harris Golf Club & I cannot wait to return to play golf & experience a little more Hebridean hospitality. The Life Membership subscription of 350 GBP has to be the best deal in golf and I commend it to you.

If you would like to find out more about becoming a Life Member of Harris Golf Club please contact bookings@wordpress-764532-2697600.cloudwaysapps.com

Castle Stuart Golf Links changes lives in Kenya

Here’s a video of Bonnie Wee Golf’s very own David Harris hitting a golf ball at the official opening of the Castle Stuart Golf Links Village in Kenya.

A personal thank you to Castle Stuart Golf Links for kindly donating a tee time for the Gathimba Edwards Foundation dinner auction earlier this year.

22 GEF volunteers from all around the world built 4 houses in Kenya for 2 families in 7 days. The houses were built on GEF land and each family will be given a portion of the land to grow a variety of food. An additional plot of land will be leased for them for 1 year. Seeds & fertiliser will be provided so that they can generate an income for themselves. After the first year the families will be in a position to take over the land lease themselves.

Bonnie Wee Golf are proud to sponsor Gathimba Edwards Foundation. To find out more about the GEF building trips, please click http://gathimbaedwardsfoundation.org/volunteer-building-trip/

St Andrews

St Andrews is so much more than a golfing destination; it is also home to the oldest university in Scotland. There are numerous attractions in and around St. Andrews to explore as you reflect on your latest round of golf. The town itself is named after the patron saint of Scotland ‘Saint Andrew’ who according to legend became so in 832 AD. Thoroughly steeped in history you can explore historic structures standing to this day, including the ruins of St Andrews Cathedral where you may visit the graves of Old Tom Morris and Young Tom Morris & St Andrews Castle which became a ruin in the late 17th Century.

Despite its historic roots St Andrews is very much a modern town with much to offer its visitors including a wide selection of first class hotels & guesthouses, museums, retail stores, fine dining, pubs and fish and chip shops. There is even a new local distillery & visitor centre at nearby Kingsbarns who will start producing their first single malt whisky in early 2018.
